Athlete Expectations

As a member of MCXC, we have certain expectations for all our athletes. These expectations are not only to ensure a successful and enjoyable season, but also to develop life skills that will benefit you beyond the running trails. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following athlete expectations:

  1. Commitment and Attendance: Cross country requires dedication and consistency. We expect all athletes to attend practices, meetings, and competitions regularly and on time. Regular attendance will not only help you improve as a runner, but it also shows respect for your teammates and coaches.
  2. Positive Attitude: A positive mindset is crucial for success in cross country. We expect our athletes to approach practices and races with an optimistic attitude, regardless of the challenges they may face. Encourage and support your teammates, and always strive to be a role model for sportsmanship.
  3. Work Ethic: Cross country is a physically and mentally demanding sport. We expect our athletes to give their best effort during practices and races. This includes completing assigned workouts, pushing through challenging moments, and continually striving for personal improvement.
  4. Teamwork: Cross country is not an individual sport, but rather a collective effort. We expect our athletes to promote a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Support your teammates, offer encouragement, and celebrate each other's achievements. Remember, together we can achieve great things.
  5. Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is a fundamental value of our cross country program. We expect our athletes to display respect for opponents, officials, coaches, and teammates at all times. Treat others with kindness and fairness, both on and off the race course.
  6. By adhering to these athlete expectations, we can foster a positive and successful cross country season. As a member of our team, you play an important role in upholding these standards. Let's work together to make this season one to remember! If you have any questions or concerns about these expectations, please feel free to reach out to your coaches.
