What to wear to practice

Proper attire is not only important for comfort during practice but also plays a significant role in preventing injuries and maximizing performance. Here are some guidelines on what to wear to cross country practice:
  1. Running Shoes: Investing in a pair of good-quality running shoes is essential. Look for shoes that offer proper support. Ensure that they fit well and are specifically designed for long-distance running. Replace your shoes when they become worn out to maintain optimal performance and prevent injuries. 2. Running Shorts: Choose shorts or leggings that are lightweight, breathable, and allow for a full range of motion.
  3. Moisture-Wicking Socks: Invest in moisture-wicking socks that provide cushioning and support. Good socks can help reduce friction and prevent blisters. Avoid wearing cotton socks, as they tend to retain moisture and can lead to discomfort.
  4. Layers: Cross country practices often take place early in the morning or late in the afternoon when temperatures can fluctuate. Dress in layers so that you can adjust accordingly. Start with a lightweight, moisture-wicking base layer and add a breathable long-sleeve shirt or lightweight jacket if needed. Don't forget to have a spare pair of clothes for after practice if you want to get out of your sweaty clothes.
  5. Hat and Sunglasses: To protect yourself from the sun and glare, wear a hat and sunglasses with UV protection. A hat can also help keep sweat out of your eyes, allowing you to focus on your run. If you have any specific questions or concerns about what to wear, consult with your coaches for guidance.
